May ’10 Donation: March of Dimes.  The Todd Schuetz family raised over $3000 in the “Walk for Babies”, all donated to the March of Dimes!

June’10 Donation: Habitat for Humanity.  We donated lunch (twice this month and ongoing for the next month) to a special group of women doing  a special building project in the community.

July ’10 Donation: American Cancer Society.  We’re sponsoring a “hole” at the Drive for the Cure July 16th at Springfield Country Club.  We also have a “Cafe 440 team” lined up to play the tourney! come on out and cheer them on!!  We are supporting and American Cancer Society in tribute to “The Viking”, Donald Schulte, who is currently battling lung cancer and to all those who have lost someone to Cancer.

August ’10 Donation-the Rotary Club and the Annual Duck Race! we bought tickets  to support this fundraiser.  We are continuing to donate lunches 1 friday a month with Habitat for Humanity’s group doing a special project.(see june charity)

September ’10 Donation-a Welcome back School month it is! we are donating in various amounts to different educational facilities in town- several close by schools including Sheldon, and  Meadowlark Schools.  We are also  helping out the Science Factory this month too.  Kids are our future! and with 3 kids at home, we know what that means!

October ’10 Donation : We helped raise over $500 for the Race for the Cure. Cafe 440 had a team that walked the race..thanks to fellow staff who not only joined us on the walk, but also donated to the cause!

November ’10 Donation : we donated to 94.9 FM, KDPM radio this month to help with the “Anti-drug abuse” campaign…this helps raise awareness to parents about the potential chemicals and drugs in the household that kids could potentially abuse.  We feel that it is an important message to get out there, and you just don’t hear a lot about it.

December Donation ’10: HO, ho ho….the giving season of December…we donated 140 servings of biscuits n gravy to the “Breakfast with Santa” at River Road Parks n Rec Northwest Gymnastics on Leghorn Road. This is a favorite of the owners’ family. Todd has been taking his 3 kids there to “friday Gym” for years now, and we really wanted to support them!

January ’11 Donation:  SASSSexual Assault Support Services, Eugene, Oregon- a non-profit organization providing community education, outreach, advocacy and support to survivors of sexual violence and their partners, families and friends throughout Eugene-Springfield and the rest of Lane County.  SASS advocates listen, believe, support, accompany, offer information and referrals and provide peer counseling to survivors of assault, past and present.  We had a request from a staff member to support this great organization, we were happy to oblige!

February’11 DonationHolt International-this is a great local organization that helps children find families! We donated to their yearly Eugene Gala and Auction.  As a result of this auction, Holt is able to continue its work with children/families in Korea.  Another local charity we supported this month was CASA-Court appointed special advocates.  We donated to their Annual Auction and raffle, Casino Night.  As a result of this great fundraiser, CASA is able to train and support volunteers to help many abused and neglected children.

March ’11 Donation:  We chose a few different charities this month, all of them great customers who support us in return-gotta spread the love and support!  We donated to the yearly raffle for the Soromundi Lesbian Chorus of Eugene.  This raffle will help them raise money for rehearsal space, and equipment/supplies purchases.  We also donated to the Little French School and their yearly fundraiser.   Another local organization, the Irish Cultural Festival, held their event this month to help raise funds and awareness about Irish culture, language, music and dance.  A fun, family friendly event that we love to support!

April ’11 Donation:  We partnered with Relief Nursery and their Blue Ribbon Campaign this month. By donating to this great charity, we have increased awareness and helped out with this Child Abuse Prevention effort.

May ’11 Donation: A yearly tradition with the Schuetz Family, May is all about raising money and awareness for the March of Dimes.  we donated generously to this Foundation.  Our first child, Alma Hazel, was born 5 weeks premature, so we fully understand the importance of the March of Dimes.  “Walk for Babies” is a family walk that we’ve participated in for 7 years now!  We raised over $2000 for March of Dimes this year!

June ’11 Donation: Todd helped put on this year’s American Cancer Society’s “Drive for the Cure”golf tournament at Riveridge Golf Course. We raised a record number this year, and Cafe 440 was there to sponsor a hole, in Memory of Don Schulte, his father in law, who lost his battle to lung cancer this past November.  We also had a great “440″ Golf team comprised of friends and staff.  We promise to be a part of this yearly fundraiser as it is close to our hearts..

July ’11 Donation:  Winetasia, a wonderful fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network took place at Hinman/Sylvan Ridge Winery.  We had a booth at the event and served over 500 of our famous Salmon Cakes!  Katie our Head Chef, Landon, sous chef, and owners, Todd and Martha Schuetz were all there servin’ up the best!  Cafe 440  even won the People’s Choice award for “Best Restaurant”…thanks to all the participants who voted for us!

August ’11 Donation: The First Tee of Willamette Valley offers programs and instruction which focus on developing Life Skills for young people using the game of golf as a vehicle.  First Tee held a fundraiser called “Wine at the Nines“, where we donated local wines and Todd volunteered to serve a wine and appetizer pairing at Hole #7.  Our friend, Dave, volunteered his time and served up great wine and food at Hole #1! it was the first year RiverRidge has held this event, and it was a great success!

September ’11 Donation: well, it’s back to school time, and we’ve lined up some great donations for some local area schools.  This year we chose to donate to Meadowview School in the Bethel school district, as we’ll be sending our THREE kids through this school and like to spread our giving around town to schools all over Eugene.   Also,  we chose to donate to St. Paul’s September Auction.  Our contact there is a regular customer and we really appreciate their business!!

October ’11 DonationBallet Fantastique is a great ballet troupe, and one of our lovely servers is one of the principal ballerinas! we donated this month to their “Arabian Night” fundraiser, and bought a table so we could attend and support this great troupe.  Oregon Electric Station works every year with “A Family for Every Child” to put on a fundraising auction. This our 2nd year to donate to this wonderful charity.  We also bought SEVERAL tickets to the Annual Duck Race held at Alton Baker Park, put on by the Eugene Rotary Club.

November ’11 Donation: We are big fans of the Science Factory! they celebrated their 50th anniversary and held a fundraising auction that we donated to. Quite a few board members are regulars at the 440! we really appreciate their support! We also donated to  Camas Ridge Community School-they held a fundraiser to raise money to keep the kids learning, and we like that!

December ’11 Donation: We donated over 140 servings of biscuits n gravy to the “Breakfast with Santa” at River Road Parks n Rec Northwest Gymnastics on Leghorn Road again this year.  Also,  Food For Lane County‘s Annual “Empty Bowls” Auction was on our list for this month.  We made mac n cheese and donated it to the WOW Hall’s Annual Member Appreciation Party-we support local music and arts!!
